After three flights and a six hour car ride, which frequently felt like a Nascar, trial my long day and a half of travel from Kansas City to Botosani was finally over. I literally collapsed on the comfy bed in the apartment where I am staying near Deb’s House and slept straight through until 10 am when I heard a knock at the door.
As anticipated, Georgiana and Ana were at the door with hugs and kisses and some motherly concern. As they they popped off their shoes, these kids know
manners, smiled and told me oh so sweetly that they were a little concerned that I wouldn’t be able to find my way from the
apartment where I am staying to the house. As in so many ways, they once again proved they are wise beyond their years. I would have ended up in Moldova without their help. En route they even stopped with me at the Bank to Transylvania to help me exchange some dollars. By the time we arrived at the house, it was alive with activity. And where did that activity take place? Just like with any other big family, the kitchen!
The amazing aroma of lunch was already wafting through the air, soon the the board games that covered the table would soon be cleared for a warm bowls of cabbage and tomato soup and an amazing rice dish
which I would love the recipe for. Before I took my place at the table, I did what most moms do and pulls out my camera. I was able to capture one quick shot before the kids did just what mine do when I start snapping pictures – they took cover. Kids are the same everywhere!
