Field Update

Once again we mounted another relief mission to Haiti with Mike Wnek and Hope for Haiti Healing. On this trip we focused our efforts on 3 areas. The first being the tent city in Ganthier. While there we distributed 2 truckloads of food, water and general medical supplies. We also provided and set up over 200 tents and purchased a water tank for the camp that will provide clean drinking water and a latrine. The current census shows 209 families (including 127 infants) living in the camp. We also visited Delmas (worst destruction I have ever seen) and delivered a truckload of food and water to people who had received no aid since the earthquake. Finally, we returned to Croix Des Bouquets and distributed 55lb bags of rice and several cases of cooking oil and sardines. Along the way we stopped into the Love A Child field hospital to assess the current needs and meet with the owners on plans to provide water and food to the nearby Ganthier refugee camp. Though it was a shorter trip, it was one of the most successful in providing food, water and shelter to some of the neediest people in the country.
